U2 Invites Fans Into The Studio
U2 is inviting fans into the studio to be a "fly onthe wall" as the group completes its next album, due late this fall. "You can download an atmosphereand dial up a groove, but there’s a certain magicwhen three musicians and a dyslexic get togetherand play in a room," lead singer Bono writes onthe newly launched U2 Web site.
The Web cam is expected to begin showing therecording process in the "coming weeks,"according to the site, which is set up like a virtualrecording complex. There’s a studio where thewebcasts of the recording sessions will be seen, the control room for information on the recordingand the site itself, and a lounge where "the latestgossip and articles" will be posted.
Possibly most exciting for fans will be the "greenroom," where the band will "share their thoughtsabout the songs they’re currently working on" andwhere fans "may even get to hear clips of newtracks as they’re finished."
As previously reported, U2’s management confirmedthe band is working with producers Brian Eno andDaniel Lanois on the as-yet-untitled album, thefollow-up to the 1997 set "Pop," which debuted atNo. 1 on The Billboard 200. As it is doing now, U2set up a Web cam for fans to watch the sessions for"Pop."
