U2 manager McGuinness ordered to put up 100,000 pounds in court battle
A JUDGE has ordered that pop businessmen Paul McGuinness andnightclub owner John Reynolds must put up 100,000 pounds each as "securityfor costs’’ in actions they are taking against the awarding of a licence toa competitor.
The Independent Radio and Television Commission (IRTC) awarded alicence for a new radio station aimed at the under-35s to Spin FM,fronted by former U2 accountant Ossie Kilkenny.
Following the licence award two of the radio consortia who were notawarded licenses went to court to seek a judicial review of the IRTCdecision. These were Storm FM, which is fronted by U2’s The Edge, andLouis Walsh and John Reynolds, who are managers of Boyzone. Thehearing starts in the High Court on May 2.
