Supermodel Naomi Backs World Debt Plea
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has expressed her hopes for the newmillennium in a heartfelt call for third world debt cancellation.
The British beauty added her signature to a whole host of other famousnames who have written in the People’s Millennium Book created byJubilee 2000 Coalition.
The book, kept in London’s Trafalgar Square, is to become a specialrecord of people’s hopes and dreams for the future and already containsthe sentiments of some of the world’s biggest stars.
Referring to the world’s poorest countries, Ms Campbell, 29, wrote :"You were robbed and blamed and now you’re found.
"Justice will be done. Peace and love on earth, Naomi."
Muhammed Ali, U2’s Bono, Chris Evans, Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakstonhave also written in the book, which is to be deposited in the BritishLibrary at the end of the year 2000.
The majority of the entries in the book express strong support for theJubilee 2000 Drop the Debt Campaign.
The idea for the project came from the need to mark the millenniumwith something people-focused and lasting and as an alternative tolarger projects like the Millennium Dome or Wheel.
