With the next James Bond film - Skyfall - hitting screens at the end of the year, speculation is rife concerning who will perform the movie’s theme tune. And following somewhat lacklustre turns from Garbage, Madonna, Chris Cornell, Jack White and Alicia Keys in recent years, the pressure is on to produce a Bond song that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Goldfinger, Thunderball and Nobody Does It Better. So with the filmmakers yet to select an artist, the following are IGN’s suggestions for the gig, with a poll at the end so you can pick your own favourite.

U2 crafted perfect Bond song Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me way back in 1995, but unfortunately wrote it for Batman Forever. Bono and The Edge also wrote the title track to Goldeneye that same year, but gave the song to the mighty Tina Turner. So isn’t it about time that Dublin’s finest stopped teasing us and actually wrote and performed a Bond song themselves? Blending the band’s spiky lyrics with that classic rock sound would doubtlessly result in a Bond classic, and the fusion of music’s biggest band with the movies’ most enduring franchise sounds like an irresistible combination.
