By the end of the month this definitive live record of U2360° - as decided by you, the fans - will be on its way to everyone who's resubscribed for 2012.

And on May 30th you'll be able to download EIGHT more tracks.

Sequenced and mastered by the band and their production team, the live CD set sounds sensational and the accompanying book is a work of beauty!

Production has taken slightly longer than planned but to make the final wait pass a little more quickly, today we're making available a fourth live track for download - and this time it's a bonus track that's not on U22.

Il y a près d'un mois nous vous retransmettions dans cet article l'email envoyé par U2.com qui annonçait U22 pour le début mai. Comme à son habitude, U2.com a mal saisi la notion du temps et a donc dépassé le délai qu'il se donnait.

Ce soir un nouvel email a été envoyé aux abonnés du site officiel et un article sur leur site n'a - pour une fois - pas tardé à être publié. Il y est écrit que les CD sont prêts et seront en chemin à la fin du mois de mai. En guise d'excuse pour ce retard, les abonnés du site pour l'année en cours peuvent télécharger dans "my account" la chanson Unknown Caller, chanson qui ne figure pas sur la tracklist de U22. Ce téléchargement est donc cadeau.

U2.com écrit également que dès le 30 mai les abonnés qui ont resouscrit pour cette année 2012 pourront télécharger huit titres supplémentaires en plus de recevoir l'album. Il semblerait que ces huit titres soient, comme Unknown Caller, des titres bonus qui n'ont pas été retenus pour la tracklist.

L'ordre des chansons n'a quant à lui toujours pas été indiqué, nous n'avons que la tracklist qui est la suivante :

U2France backstage... (I)

You often visit U2France, maybe even on a daily basis, but we rarely take the time to tell you about the changes we make on the website and about what is up. It's time for us to reveal - as the opportunity arises - a bit of the hidden aspects of the "beast". First part today : let us show you the projects we're currently working on to make this site progress and so give you even more.

We recently started a thread on our forum page in order to know what you like on the News page, and what you'd rather change - with the unconcealed intention of changing the News interface. Some of you may have had an insight of the future visual theme of the News page Dom prepared, a preview that was actually due to a technical bug (this facetious U2France felt the urge to launch its next version without warning us!). As the element of surprise is gone, we can now confirm that we'll change the black and blue color theme on the News page for more "relaxing" colors - as Allblue correctly said - and an easier to use interface. You won't get any more details though, we want to save a part of the mystery ;-)

We also work in parallel on making the website easier to understand to our English-speaking visitors: we now translate into English every article we write - those translations are made by our two new recruits Florian and Ping. As the website is not only about news, we are also working on a progressive English translation of the resources section - Jérôme and Florian mostly working on it. Thank you guys for joining us, thanks also to Wraitii who is helping Dead on late translations :-)

Unlike U2.com, we don't want to give you a deadline that we wouldn't keep - so let's just say that those projects will be over...someday!

We also take the opportunity of writing this paper to thank all of those who come more and more each day to visit our U2France Facebook page. Three months ago we created this page in order to give you an additional space to the website's news (photo albums in connection with the band's current events, memo pad with the latest published articles and the advance of U2's projects) and to turn it into a user-friendly place for fans - thanks to the « le son de U2 pour bien commencer la semaine » and the « le jeu du week- end » sections (T.N: "The U2 sound to get the week off to a good start" and "the week-end contest"). The Facebook page hit 1000 fans this week end, we thank you all!

Vous venez régulièrement sur U2France, peut-être même quotidiennement, mais nous prenons rarement la parole pour vous expliquer les changements opérés sur le site et ses nouveautés. Il est temps pour nous de vous dévoiler un peu, lorsque l'occasion se présente, les dessous de 'la bête'. Premier volet aujourd'hui pour vous présenter les projets sur lesquels nous travaillons pour faire encore et toujours évoluer ce site et vous offrir ainsi davantage.

Récemment nous avions lancé sur le forum une discussion afin de connaître ce que vous aimiez sur la page des actualités et ce que vous changeriez, le tout dans le but non dissimulé de remanier l'interface des actualités. Certains d'entre vous ont pu apercevoir le thème à venir de la page des actualités préparé par Dom, aperçu qui résultait en réalité d'un problème technique (ce petit coquin de U2France s'est pris d'une envie de lancer sa prochaine version à notre insu !) La surprise totale étant ratée, nous pouvons donc vous confirmer que les actualités vont délaisser le thème noir et bleu pour des couleurs plus « reposantes », comme le disait si bien Allblue, et une interface plus simple d'utilisation. Mais vous n'aurez pas plus de détails, nous conservons un minimum de surprise ;-)

En parallèle nous nous attelons à rendre le site plus accessible à nos visiteurs anglophones en traduisant désormais en anglais tous les articles que nous écrivons, traductions inversées assurées par deux de nos nouvelles recrues, Florian et Ping. Le site ne se limitant pas qu'aux actualités, nous travaillons également à la version anglaise des ressources qui sont progressivement traduites en grande partie par Jérôme et Florian. Merci à vous les gars de nous avoir rejoints, merci également à Wraitii qui aide Dead pour les traductions en retard :-)

Contrairement à U2.com nous ne voulons donner une date que nous ne tiendrons pas, nous nous contenterons simplement de vous dire que ces projets seront terminés... un jour !

Nous profitons de ce papier pour remercier tous ceux qui sont de jour en jour plus nombreux à nous suivre sur la page Facebook U2France. Nous avons créé cette page il y a trois mois pour vous offrir un espace complémentaire aux actualités du site (albums photos en rapport avec l'actualité du groupe, bloc note recensant les derniers articles et l'avancée des projets de U2) ainsi qu'un lieu convivial et ludique pour les fans à travers les rubriques « le son de U2 pour bien commencer la semaine » et « le jeu du week-end ». Longing for the next U2 Tour?- Look no further! U2's PopMart Tour is being recreated

Happening soon—May 19 and 20—the PopMart tour will be recreated in the 3D metaverse called Second Life!

U2 fans are virtually bringing back shows from U2's 1997-1998 PopMart era in all its glory featuring full-length concerts with replica costumes, props and sets along with performing avatar likenesses of Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr., and Adam Clayton.

Who exactly is doing this? U2 fans who belong to the 3D virtual world of Second Life! In fact, since 2005 in that world U2 fans have recreated "U2inSL" concerts and events. Having already successfully created the Vertigo and 360 Tours (check out the U2inSL website for photos and videos), their recreation of the PopMart tour is their most ambitious project yet!

Going by the name "U2inSL" which stands for "U2 in Simulated Lives", these Second Life role players do this for fun and also as a tribute to the band they love. Most importantly, however, they hope to raise awareness of the various causes supported by U2—-such as the One Campaign, Amnesty International, Music Rising, African Well Fund, Product Red, War Child and others.

You might wonder, "Isn't this a rip off the real band's IP?" Throughout the years, U2inSL members have attempted to contact the real band's management and have yet to receive a response. Seemingly, however, the real band is aware of U2inSL, as U2 management had approved of, and their graphic people were in the process of incorporating, the use of U2inSL video for the real band's 2010 Glastonbury performance of Even Better Than the Real Thing. Unfortunately, as U2 fans are aware, due to Bono's bank injury that year the band's appearance was canceled.

To be sure that everyone in attendance knows this is not the real U2, a disclaimer sign is placed prominently at every U2 in Second Life concert stating U2inSL is NOT the real band and that no infringement is intended. However, unlike real world U2 tribute bands, NO money is ever made from U2inSL's concerts. You can read more about U2inSL on their website at http://www.U2inSL.com

U2 rejouera un concert du PopMart Tour... dans 'Second Life'

Vous connaissez probablement le jeu virtuel "Second Life". Bien qu'en perte de vitesse après sa spectaculaire arrivée il y a quelques années, le jeu continue son bonhomme de chemin.

Vous ne connaissez pas "Second Life" ? Petite explication alors. Ce jeu en 3D consiste à créer un univers et ses personnages, comme l'indique le nom du jeu le but est de se créer une seconde vie. Cette vie virtuelle peut se jouer en réseau, de façon à ce que les personnages (et les personnes derrière leur écran) côtoient les autres personnages (donc les autres joueurs) et vivent leur vie ensemble. Vous pouvez alors créer un Bono et le faire se promener dans votre rue.

Le site U2insl (lisez "U2 in Simulated Lives") est dédié à la présence de U2 dans le jeu. Vous y trouverez une multitude d'images des concerts et divers événements de U2 que les fans adeptes de Second Life ont recréé dans le jeu depuis 2005. Les 19 et 20 mai ces fans vont réitérer ces concerts virtuels à travers le PopMart Tour. Même scène, même habits pour les membres de U2, setlist copiée de la tournée, en un mot une fidèle reproduction des concerts qui se sont tenus en 1997. Les fans profitent de ces concerts pour sensibiliser le public aux causes soutenues par U2 - One Campaign, Amnesty International, Music Rising, African Well Fund, Product Red etc. - en créant sur les lieux diverses banderoles de ces causes.

Pour la petite anecdote, une vidéo de U2 dans Second Life devait être intégrée par le vrai groupe U2 dans une vidéo lors de leur concert au festival de Glastonbury en 2010, apparemment pour la chanson Even Better Than The Real Thing (je me permets d'avoir une réserve sur la chanson puisque U2 ne s'est mis à jouer ce titre qu'en 2011 sur la tournée 360°). La vraie performance à ce festival ayant été annulée en 2010, la vidéo de Second Life n'a pas été utilisée.

Pour faire participer votre personnage à ces concerts, rendez-vous au Sky Stadium à 3:00 PM SLT (heure du jeu) le 19 mai, et 2:30 PM SLT le 20 mai.

28 mars 2011 - Buenos Aires. Journée de repos.

J'ai passé la journée à me préparer pour un meeting avec le groupe en fin d'après-midi. Et pour ce genre d'occasion, un bloc-notes est un outil bien pratique. Être capable d'écrire ou de dessiner me permet de penser les choses à fond et de rationaliser les différentes idées, parfois disparates, qui me viennent à l'esprit. Il s'avère que je n'avais pas prévu de bloc-notes, je suis donc parti à la recherche d'un magasin. Le concierge m'en a indiqué un, qui en fait était tout petit, et où j'étais coincé entre la papeterie, les fournitures et la photocopieuse. Mon espagnol étant en gros minimal, ça m'a pris un petit bout de temps pour expliquer ce que je voulais (d'autant qu'apparemment, croyant demander un "grand bloc-notes", je demandais en fait "un gros gâteau").

Il y a plusieurs innovations à étudier pour la tournée, et six d'entre-elles étaient au planning de la réunion de cet après-midi. Celles qui me tiennent le plus à cœur sont les remix des Magnificent et de Even Better Than The Real Thing, et j'étais un peu inquiet quand je me suis rendu compte que j'en étais tombé amoureux, particulièrement celui d'Even Better qui est juste génial. C'est toujours dangereux d'être dans une telle situation : la déception attend au tournant si le meeting ne se passe pas bien.

Bono est avec une bande d'ami dublinois, donc il est dans une maison plus près de la mer. C'est à un petit bout de chemin d'ici (une bonne heure), mais c'est vraiment un bel endroit donc ça reste supportable. Les quatre membres sont arrivés, et on a commencé à discuter. Je me sentais presque stressé en leur passant le remix d'Even Better de Dec et le nouveau mix de Magnificent. Heureusement, les deux ont été très bien accueillis, si bien que Larry a proposé qu'on commence les show par Even Better, une décision intéressante et courageuse. On essaiera à la répétition de Mercredi et on verra bien si ça marche.

De retour à l'hôtel Fabulous, on avait tous besoin d'une pause et d'un débriefing. Le concierge (dont j'apprenais à douter des conseils) nous a envoyé dans un "bar super, calme, tranquille" à une dizaine de rues d'ici. À l'arrivée, ça n'était pas tant "calme" et "tranquille" que "pavé de prostituées" et "assourdissant", même si les mac' qui distribuaient des cartes dans plusieurs des rues adjacentes auraient du être un indice. On a persévéré, et on a trouvé une petite pizzeria au look innocent, avec des sièges sur le devant, où l'on a pu manger des empanadas et boire quelques bières sans être agressés. Une journée importante pour les show du 360 en cours, et je trouve qu'on a bien travaillé.

McGuinness : l'interprétation de Bono est l'une des raisons pour laquelle j'ai soutenu ce groupe

Le manager de la formation rock irlandaise U2 se souvient de pourquoi il a choisi de s'impliquer dans la carrière du groupe, alors qu'une nouvelle exposition documentant le groupe se déroule en ce moment.

Trente-trois photos du groupe prises entre 1978 et 1981, avant qu'il ne connaisse un succès planétaire, ont été dévoilées lors d'une manifestation exclusive hier soir.

Ces clichés seront exposés au Little Museum de Dublin durant les quatre prochains mois.

Lors de l'inauguration de cette expo, hier soir, Paul McGuinness (NDLT : au choix manager de U2 ou cinquième membre de U2) a confié à Phantom 105.2 pourquoi il avait choisi de manager le groupe.

"Il avaient de la conviction, de l'intelligence et du talent", a-t-il précisé avant de poursuivre : "Ils n'étaient pas particulièrement bons musiciens au début, mais Bono était à l'évidence un performer extraordinaire. Il traquait littéralement le contact avec le public."

«Chicago, on my birthday, it's a beautiful day!» On May 10, 2005 Bono ended the song Beautiful Day with these words. Today he celebrates his 52th birthday. Here is a musical overview of this short charismatic man.

Bono is the main songwriter of U2 (sometimes along with The Edge). Several songs reflect his life, his personality or again his convictions. So why not tell Bono's story through his songs?

Out of Control - 1978
This song is U2's first single ever and it was written by Bono alone on its 18th birthday. The title "Out Of Control" if quite a good image of Bono's temper as a teenager: a child full of a rage that could get sudden and out of control. Bono told once Niall Stokes that someday in school he turned all the tables and chair of his classroom upside down for no reason. Bono has never been able to explain the rage that inhabits him, he can only remember it's always been here from the day he got into school and punched a student to the day he tossed the tables. Over the years the rage has never left him, Bono says "he learned how to behave in order to hide this side of him". By looking at his ardor on stage during the eighties, it looks like he's succeeded in controlling his fiery temperament and use it wisely.

Tomorrow – 1981
As it often happens with U2 songs, lyrics can have two different meanings: a cry of rage from Bono regarding conflicts in Northern Ireland or the pain of someone who lost his mother. Actually both interpretations are correct. Bono wrote this song thinking of Northern Ireland, but the rest of the band saw in it a reference to his mother. Bono the decided to change the lyrics and make them more about his relation with his mother. Iris Hewson, Bono's mother, died when he was only 14 and it's quite easy to understand the void it left in Bono's life. Tomorrow is the desperate plea of a child calling for his mother, as we can see with the chorus "Won't you come back tomorrow?" and the harrowing repetition of "I want you to be back tomorrow". Other U2 songs will refer to Bono's mother in the band's discography, among which the very implicit song 'Lemon' (the lemon color is the one of a dress Iris Hewson wears in a family video), or even 'Mofo' - a song in which Bono says rock'n'roll has been a kind of surrogate mother to him.

Two Hearts Beat As One - 1983
Finding a song with references to Ali, Bono's wife, is quite easy. There is Spanish Eyes (those Spanish eyes are the first thing Bono noticed about Ali), Sweetest Thing- which was written by Bono as an excuse letter after he forgot her birthday, but most of all there is Two Hearts Beat As One. This song was written by Bono in 1982 during their honeymoon. Both lovebirds met in high school and never left each other since. Thirty years of marriage, four kids (the first of them was born on Bono's birthday in 1989, so happy birthday to their daughter Jordan as wall), a couple as strong as they've been since day one: it looks like they're the impersonation of what is a soulmate.

The Fly – 1991
The Fly is probably the U2 song that show the most about Bono's passion for litterature and theatre, which are two fields that have been of great interest to him since he was a teenager. Lyrics consist of a succession of aphorisms, those provocative short sentences such as " Every artist is a cannibal / every poet is a thief ". In fact Bono took his inspiration in a book by Jenny Holger which was full of aphorisms in order to write The Fly. From this point, Bono decided to create the character of The Fly, a kind of theatrical adaptation of the song which fit Bono's will to make a game of the 'rock star' aspect. In high school Bono used to love theatre plays, and act in them when he could, that was no surprise then to see him in 1991, strutting at ease in his Fly's outfit. As a matter of fact The Edge stated that "Zoo TV opened up all the possibilities of theatre; role playing". And it's obvious that if one takes a look at MacPhisto's character (a character that was also inspired by a book: The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis), one will see in it a way for Bono to play a part. Except that the performance didn't take place in a theatre, but on a concert stage.

North And South of The River - 1997
Bono shows a flawless tolerance regarding other religions, for a good reason: his mother was a protestant and his father was a catholic - two religions that are the cause of conflicts in Northern Ireland. Sunday Bloody Sunday (1983) and Please (1997) are two tracks which clearly refer - even more clearly when it comes to the first track - to those conflicts, but people tend to forget that the song North And South Of the River, a B-Side, also talks about this. Far from a dynamic and explosive Sunday Bloody Sunday, North And South Of The River talks about the Irish political situation on a softer rhythm. The song title refers to the Liffey river in Dublin which cuts the city in two parts: North and South. Niall Stokes explains: "at heart it's a political song about the difficulties of reconciling Nationalist and Unionist traditions in the north of Ireland". This different way to talk about a same period, but 15 years later, is quite revealing about Bono's more implicit and polished writing over the years.

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own - 2004
After Tomorrow, which was dedicated to his late mother, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is a song Bono dedicated to Bob Hewson, his father who died in August of 2001. Bono's father was the man who passed his passion for singing to Bono as he was an opera singer on his spare time - Bono sings about it in Sometimes: "You're the reason why the opera is in me". Nevertheless Bono and his father were not getting along very well since Iris Hewson's death (as refered to in the verse "We fight all the time"), a situation that makes Bono wish they had talked more. Such a context didn't prevent Bono from being very affected by the loss of his father during the Elevation Tour, as one can see on the U2 Go Home DVD's version of Kite: the concert took place only a few days after Bob's funeral. The same kind of emotion could be felt with Sometimes during the Vertigo Tour, when Bono used to take his sunglasses off.

Let's finish in style with two videos of our dear Irish man. The first one is Canal + Grand Journal's "La Boîte A Questions" ("Question Box") from October 2011, when Bono came to Paris in order to support ONE (but there is Joey Starr ending the video...). The second one is taken from 'From The Sky Down': Bono alone with its guitar for an interpretation of So Cruel...
