Finally some new U2 music from Bono and the boys?

The drum beats in the press and the headwinds out of Dublin would lead us to believe that new U2 music might be seeing the light of day very soon.

A U2 fan has posted what he claims is material capturing the band in rehearsal for the new album they've been assembling over the last few years.

BONO DOING AN RTE DOCUMENTARY THIS SUMMER?

Bono will apparently be appearing in a new TV documentary before he appears in a new U2 album. Ireland's RTE-TV has announced a series of new summer programs and it includes a documentary that's described as "The Meaning Of Life with Bono." There's no other information available at the documentary at the moment, at least not that we've been able to find via a few quick searches.

He's been rocking worldwide stages for over thirty years. But on Friday, U2's Bono proved that even rock stars can't stall the test of time. Along with his trademark sunglasses, the 53-year-old celebrated at Dublin's Coppinger Row Restaurant.

Joined by U2 band mates Larry Mullen and The Edge, his close friend and collaborator Gavin Friday upped the numbers.

Bono fronts Aslan at gig for ailing Christy

Bono is set to front Aslan at an upcoming charity concert for Christy Dignam.

They may come from opposite ends of Ballymun and be rock rivals, but at the same time they are the best of friends.

Now Bono has agreed to front Dignam's band at A Night For Christy in the Olympia Theatre next month.

The Herald has learned that the U2 singer has pledged his support to the night, which will see some of the biggest names in Irish pop and rock perform to help pay the medical expenses of the Aslan frontman, who is battling cancer.

U2 may perform at World Cup

Irish rockers U2 are in talks with World Cup organisers to perform at the tournament in Brazil next year.

The supergroup, who are expected to go on tour next year, have reportedly been targeted by soccer chiefs.

Reports in Brazil claim organisers are in negotiations with the band to perform at either the opening or closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony takes place at the Maracana stadium in Rio in July next year.

Steve Lillywhite has been the producer on some of the most successful Irish albums

Grammy-winning music producer Steve Lillywhite will front a new RTÉ series to look for original songwriters.

Lillywhite has been a long-time producer of both U2 and The Pogues along with The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, Morrissey and others and his work has won five Grammy awards.

The Hit was a successful pilot last year generating hits for Royseven and Brian McFadden and will be one of the flagship programmes of the RTÉ's summer schedules.
