Sales :

According to CRIA certifications, "With Or Without You", "I Still Haven’tFound What I’m Looking For", and "Desire" sold over 50,000 units (GOLD).SoundScan has been keeping tabs on sales figures only since October1996, thereby excluding many of U2’s hits. The concept ofcollecting sales statistics via barcode scanning is fairly new and iscurrently less than helpful when data from the 1980’s are needed.

"POP" has been certified as TRIPLE PLATINUM in Canada with salesof approximately 380,000 units. If another 20,000 units are sold,it will be re-certified as QUADRUPLE PLATINUM. I have no otherinformation regarding the certification of other U2 albumsin Canada.

Side Note : It is interesting that despite the fact that "AchtungBaby" has sold well over 10 million units world-wide and hasbeen certified as selling 8 million units in the U.S., it onlyreached #2 in both Canada and the U.K. and #1 for one week inthe U.S. A seemingly inauspicious start that was negated by thefact that AB lingered in the top 10 in each country for some time.
