Celtic Park has long been rumoured to be the venue. The band arescheduled to make a full announcement of the event’s precise ticketing details at aScottish news conference on Thursday.
Announcing details of their forthcoming new album as well as a world tour, U2 will be staging a news conference tomorrow at a mystery location - described as "uniqueand prestigious" by the band’s press agents - in the centre of New York.
Edinburgh’s 50,000-capacity Murrayfield Stadium is the favourite location for U2’sScottish show, a venue the band filled completely as long ago as 1987.
Having brought a large, elaborate and expensive stage-set to Celtic Park in 1993 while on their Zoo TV tour, U2 are predicted to unveil plans for an even grander structure for Murrayfield.
As a measure of U2’s standing, a record of tomorrow’s entire New York press conference will eventually be made available to the press, not merely as a written transcription, but as a CD.
