Sting, Bono Honored By Moby, Elton At Rock The Vote Awards
Sting and Bono were honored last night for their continued politicalactivism by receiving Rock The Vote’s 7th Annual Patrick Lippert Awardsduring a ceremony held at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles.
The event, hosted by Bill Maher from ABC-TV’s "Politically Incorrect,"drew such notable music and entertainment celebs as Sheryl Crow,Jewel, Ice-T, Bill Murray, Howard Stern, and Rosanna Arquette, amongothers.
Elton John and Moby highlighted the evening’s performances, as the twoteamed up for a rendition of "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad," a songfrom Moby’s Grammy-nominated album, "Play." The event also included aset from Best New Artist Grammy nominee Macy Gray.
Sting, who is up for a pair of Grammys himself for his album "Brand NewDay," received his Patrick Lippert Award from Nobel laureate Jody Williams,who recognized Sting for his environmental pursuits on behalf of theBrazilian Rainforest and its indigenous inhabitants.
Bono was cited by Rock The Vote for his work on the Jubilee 2000 andNetAid debt reduction campaigns, but the singer was unable to attend theceremony in person because of his European promotional schedule forthe new film, "The Million Dollar Hotel," which he helped co-write.
